Mavis Ilene Overstreet, a cherished mother, devoted homemaker, and beloved member of her community, peacefully passed away on July 19, 2026, at the age of 90. She was born on October 25, 1935, to her parents Jessie and Charlotte Infinger Gomillion. Mavis lived a life filled with love, kindness, and generosity, always reaching out to help those around her.

Mavis met her husband Ralph Overstreet in DeFuniak Springs, Florida working in a restaurant as a waitress. He was working for an oil company and stopped in one day and met the love of his life. He told his friend that she was going to be his wife. She married him and moved to Clarke County Alabama and had a wonderful life together. They were married 57 wonderful years before his death in August 2011.

She found joy in her beautiful flower gardens, nurturing each bloom with the same care and attention she devoted to her family. Mavis was an exceptional cook, known for her delicious meals that brought family and friends together. Her home was a sanctuary, filled with laughter, warmth, and love, and she was the heart and soul of her family who will carry her spirit forward. Mavis was a faithful and active member of Jones Chapel Methodist Protestant Church, she touched the lives of many with her sweet spirit and unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand. She complemented her husband in their business endeavors, always contributing to their success with grace and hard work. Her legacy of compassion will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

Mavis is survived by children; Sherry (Frank) Enzor, Debra Brice, Rena (Tony) Cox, Dexter (Lisa) Overstreet, and Lisa (Thomas) Hanlon; grandchildren; Jody (Penny) Enzor, Brad (Ashley) Enzor, Darra (Robert) Lloyd, Corey (Heather) Horton, Megan (Terry) Alton, Charity Cox Cooper, Anthony (Jasmine) Cox, Rebecca (Chad) Martin, Beth (Jack) Reid, Ryan (Apryl) Gates, Carly (Dalton) Jackson, and Maci (Gage) Stuckey, and 27 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ralph Overstreet, her parents and all of her siblings.

Family and friends are invited to honor Mavis's life and legacy during her services on July 23, 2026. A public visitation will be held at Lathan Funeral Home at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. With Bro. Frank Enzor and Jody Enzor officiating. Mavis will then be laid to rest afterwards at Jones Chapel Methodist Protestant Cemetery at 12:00 PM.

Pallbearers are Joe Frank Enzor IV 'Chip', Landen Lloyd, Judson Wheeler, Landen Cox, Will Martin, Kaden Horton, Camden Cox. Honorary Pallbearers are Jody Enzor, Brad Enzor, Corey Horton, Anthony Cox, Ryan Gates, W. Elwood Overstreet and Bonnie Ray Overstreet.

In this time of remembrance, let us celebrate the beautiful life of Mavis Overstreet-a life filled with love, laughter, and a profound impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
