Michael was a man who truly embodied the spirit of community and compassion. Known by many as a friendly and caring individual, he had a unique gift for making friends wherever he went. Michael loved unconditionally and was loved in return, lighting up the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. A faithful servant of the Lord, he held a special place in his heart for the congregation at Magnolia Assembly of God Church, where he found his home among fellow believers.

He is survived by his loving family, including his siblings, Judy Motes (Buck) Jordan; Willard Eugene Motes, Lacy Elton (Cecelia) Motes, Sherry Faye Motes (Wayne) McCoy, and Barry Lynn Motes, Sr; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and countless dear friends. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished each moment spent with them.

Michael is preceded in death by his beloved Lacy Lee Motes and Virginia Leona (Woodruff) Motes; his wife Arlene Parish Motes; his brothers, Luther Lee Motes, Joseph Edward Motes, and Archie Ray Motes; and his sister, Laurene Motes Shelton. While the loss of Michael leaves a void in our lives, we find solace in the memories we shared and the enduring impact he had on us all.
