Mikeal Byron
Finch
May 25, 1958 — Aug 3, 2026
Mikeal Bryon Finch I, of the Winn community in Alabama, was born on May 25, 1958, and passed away on August 3, 2026, at the age of 68.
Mikeal spent most of his life working as a logger, a profession that reflected his strength, determination, and tireless work ethic. He was a man who wasn't afraid of hard work and took great pride in providing for his family. There wasn't much that Mikeal couldn't do. Whether it was repairing equipment, fixing a vehicle, or helping someone with a project, he was always willing to lend a hand. It was often said that he would fix everyone else's things before taking the time to fix his own.
When he wasn't working, Mikeal loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed boat racing, mud riding, hunting, cheering on Alabama football, and had a special appreciation for old pickup trucks. Those who knew him knew he could often be found in the woods, on the water, or tinkering with something that needed fixing.
More than any hobby or profession, Mikeal's greatest pride and joy was his family. He loved his children with all his heart, and nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Big Pawpaw." Whether sharing stories, lending advice, or simply making memories together, he treasured every moment with them.
Mikeal will be remembered as a hardworking man with gifted hands, a generous spirit, and a heart that was always willing to help others. He never met a challenge he wouldn't tackle and never hesitated to be there for those who needed him. His quiet strength, unwavering determination, and selfless nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Mikeal is preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Joycelyn Finch; brother, Randall “Scotty” Finch; and his best friend Ron Lee.
He is survived by his children, Jessica (Jeffery) Sloat, Mikeal “Mikie” (Kayla) Finch, and MaKenzie (Alex) Fuller; grandchildren, Anna Kayte Finch, Tucker Wayne Sloat, Addilyn Claire Finch, Waylon Edward Sloat, Colby Eugene Phillips, and Colsen Floyd Fuller; nieces, Charley Finch Sheffield and Randall Kate Finch Bolen; and other relatives and dear friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Old Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Winn, Alabama. Dr. Johnny Kendrick and Bro. Joe Bedwell will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jeffery Sloat, Alex Fuller, Stevie Brannan, Chance Chason, Kenny Finch, Drew Outlaw, Clifton Barnes, Brett Pearson, Scott Williamson, Ray Wynn, and Michael Bedwell. Honorary pallbearer is Billy Harrison.
