Nancy Overstreet

August 12, 1941 — September 16, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nancy Janet Blankenship Overstreet. Born on August 12, 1941, to parents Robert Lee Blankenship, Sr. and Carrie Dell (Milstead) Blankenship. Janet peacefully departed this life on September 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Janet was a woman of faith and grace, whose kindness touched the hearts of many. She devoted her life to her family and to her church, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored and delighted in spoiling. Her warm, generous spirit shone brightly in all her endeavors, from her passion for cooking that filled homes with the aroma of love, to her enjoyment of the great outdoors where she embraced her love for hunting.

A devout fan of Alabama football, Janet wore her crimson and white with pride, cheering enthusiastically for her team. Her love for Alabama was rivalled only by her love for her family and faith, which guided her throughout her life.

Among the many joys in her life, one of the most treasured was her beloved dog, Prissy. A constant companion and loyal friend, Prissy brought light, laughter, and comfort to each of her days.

She found deep joy in the relationships she built with her family, especially her brother and sister-in-law (Louie and Peggy), whom she embraced and loved as one of her own. Janet was known to Louie, Peggy, Tommy, Jonathan, and their children as "MeMe."

Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Overstreet; her parents, Robert Lee, Sr. and Carrie Dell (Milstead) Blankenship; brothers, Robert Lee (Nellie) Blankenship Jr., Charles Melvin (Melba) Blankenship, David Earl (Hester) Blankenship; sisters, Anna Clara (George Jr.) Younge and Jean Delores (Ray) Moseley.

Janet is survived by her brother-in-law, Louie Overstreet (Peggy); sisters, June Flowers and Glenda Shelby; special nephews, Tommy Overstreet and Jonathan Overstreet; special great nieces and nephews, Jon Garrett, Rachel, Lauren, and Luke. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and dear friends.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Overstreet, Jonathan Overstreet, Luke Overstreet, Kevin Sullivan, Kent Younge, and Terry Flowers.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jon Garrett Overstreet, Derek Overstreet, Marshall Woodyard, Gloria Robertson, Carolyn Jones, Eddie Cunningham, Jerry and Sharon Rebek, Jimmy and Debra Ropers, her nieces and nephews.

In celebration of Janet's life and spirit, a funeral service will be held at Walker Springs Road Baptist Church on September 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with a visitation an hour prior. Following the service, her final resting place will be at Perry's Chapel Cemetery. Bro. David Webb will be officiating under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home.
