Nanelle Adams

Jan 17, 1931 — Apr 30, 2026

Mary Nanelle Trice Adams of Grove Hill passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, at the age of 95, leaving behind a life richly lived and a legacy of beauty, wisdom, faith, and love. Nanelle was born on January 17, 1931, to parents, Peter Alba Trice and Nell Shahan Trice.

Nanelle brought color, grace, and warmth into the lives of all who knew her. A gifted fine artist and accomplished watercolor painter, she had a remarkable eye for beauty and found joy in creating it. She loved flowers, beautiful things, and the quiet pleasure of a good book.

Nanelle was an exceptional cook whose kitchen was a gathering place filled with delicious meals, laughter, and stories. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people feel at ease, welcomed, and valued.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. She had a deep and abiding passion for the study of Christian theology, approaching Scripture and matters of faith with both curiosity and conviction. Her spiritual wisdom shaped not only her own life but the lives of those around her.

Above all, Nanelle loved her family fiercely. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who cherished her children and grandchildren beyond measure. She taught her children by example to treat every person with dignity and respect, to stand courageously by their convictions, and to live with integrity.

Nanelle also treasured the rare gift of lifelong friendship. She was blessed with dear friends who walked beside her through the seasons of life, sharing in both its joys and its trials.

Though she will be deeply missed, the beauty she created, the faith she lived, the laughter she shared, and the love she poured into her family and friends will continue to live on in all who knew her.

Nanelle Adams leaves behind a family who adored her, friends who cherished her, and a legacy that will not be forgotten.

Nanelle is preceded in death by her parents; her husband John Edmund "Jack" Adams, Jr.; her sons, John Edmund Adams III and Peter Trice Adams; brother, Peter Alba Trice, Jr; sister, Elizabeth Trice Nichols.

Nanelle is survived by her son David Adams; her daughter Evelyn Adams; her grandchildren, John Michael (Amanda) Adams, Melissa Adams - Dillon (Rusty), William David Adams, Coleman Troupe Adams, Mary Megan Adams Turner (William), Katherine Shahan Adams Thompson (Lucas); great-grandchildren, Bodhi Dillon and Liam Turner; and daughter-in-law Merrilee Brown Adams.
