Rita Reid

Rita Megginson Reid, 83 of Jackson passed away after a long illness on May 3, 2019 at Jackson Healthcare. Rita was born November 11,1935 in Grove Hill, Al to Earl "Shorty" Megginson and Jewel Cassity Megginson. Rita was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson.

Rita is survived by her husband of 64 years, Floyd; son, Randy; sister, Pam (Sonny) Hoven; 7 grandchildren, Misty, Casey, Becky, Brittany, Jon Foster, Braxton, and Andie; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great, great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents; son, Tim Reid and grandson Judson Reid.

A graveside service was held at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. Dr. Ben Stubblefield and Rev. Brian Jemison of First Baptist Church of Jackson conducted the service. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson.

Active pallbearers were Mark Criswell, Mike Hoven, Jim Reid, Darren Reid, Jacob Smith and Jon Foster Reid. Honorary pallbearers were Misty Durrance, Casey Henley, Becky Johnson, Brittany Reid, Tristan Moseley, Braxton Reid and Andie Reid.
