Ronald G. Taylor, known to many as Jerry and affectionately referred to as "Tater-bug" by close friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on December 7, 1952, Jerry was a beloved husband, father, Pops, brother, and friend who made an indelible mark on the lives of those around him.
Jerry was a dedicated member of Stave Creek Baptist Church. He was known for his big heart, straightforward personality, and his remarkable ability to make anyone feel at home. Throughout his life, Jerry wore many hats and embraced each role with grace and joy. He cherished sharing stories, sharing laughter, and making lasting memories with his family and friends.
Despite facing years of illness, Jerry's indomitable spirit shone through in everything he did. He had a passion for the great outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing, and treasured every moment spent in nature.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Deborah Taylor; children, Heather York (Chris) and Hunter Taylor; grandchildren, Beau Redmond Taylor, Eva Gray York, Mallie Ann York, and Maddie Lee York; siblings, Sheila Hayden (Steve), Larry Brooks (Barbara), Gary Brooks (Karla), and De Brooks; and a host nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends who will forever hold him dear in their hearts.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Geneva Taylor.
Funeral services will be held in his honor on July 8, 2026. A visitation for the public will take place at Stave Creek Baptist Church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM with Bro. Mike Ballard officiating. A graveside service will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens where Jerry will be laid to rest.
Active pallbearers will be Hunter Taylor, Chris York, Chris McGraw, Chris Moorehead, Jason McGraw, and Steven Hayden.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry's oldest and dearest friends.
Jerry will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for all the laughter, stories, and warmth he brought into our lives.
