Ruth Williamson

Ruth Hamilton Williamson, 78, of Gosport, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at her residence. She was born in Whatley on Saturday, April 24, 1943. She had been employed by the Clarke County Board of Education as a school bus driver and kindergarten teacher's aide in Grove Hill. After retirement, she became a huge fan of the Clarke Prep Gator football program where her grandsons played. She enjoyed flower arranging, cooking and raising those same grandchildren. She was known for her ability to "keep everyone in line."
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glover Hamilton, Annie Leigh Robinson Hamilton and husband, Phil B. Williamson.
She is survived by her children, Eleanor Crawford, Howard L. Williamson; grandsons, Kyle Williamson (Kesnie Cochran), Wesley Williamson; sister-in-law and best friend, Rachel Duke; close friends, Walt Pope, Gil Gilmore, Wylynn Phillipi, Vicky Dickinson, Joe Whitherinton, Butch Salter, Joanna Pugh, the Clarke Prep Gator football teams, Coach Billy Hamilton and coaching staff of 2013 through 2015 and a sister.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Gosport Baptist Church with Roger Robinson officiating.
