Sharon Terry, 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 28, 2025. She was born March 26th, 1946, to the late Arthur Leonard and Daisye (York) Terry. She was the youngest of nine children and a life-long resident of Coffeeville, Alabama. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Coffeeville and a graduate of Coffeeville High School as well as Patrick Henry Junior College, now known as Coastal Alabama Community College. She also attended Livingston University, now known as The University of West Alabama.
Sharon was a quiet, soft-spoken lady who loved her family and her pets. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and caring for her lawn. Sharon was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Auburn University football. Traveling was another of her hobbies. She enjoyed many trips with her brothers and sisters from Canada to Mexico and Morocco as well as throughout the United States. The beaches along the Gulf of Mexico were among her favorite vacation destinations.
Sharon devoted much of her life to caring for others. She was especially close to her nieces, Ellen Counselman Harper and the late Emily Counselman Hodge. She spent a great deal of her time with them and their children, Victoria, Vann, Vivian and Virginia.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John Erby Terry, Arthur Marion Terry, Emory Lee Terry, and James Kenneth Terry; and sisters, Margie Terry Bumpers and Barbara Terry Agee. She is survived by her brother, Gilmer Roy Terry; sister, Elizabeth Terry Counselman; brother-in-law, Jimmy Counselman; sister-in-law, Christa Schlander Terry; nine nieces and nephews; and nineteen great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Martin Vann Wilson, Benjamin Franklin Harper, Cole Alexander Adams, Timothy Ray Hodge, John Michael Day, and Mohamed Benchaaboune.
Servies will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson, Alabama. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Linda Fos Officiating. Interment will follow the service at Coffeeville Cemetery.
