Sylvia Scarbrough

Sylvia Gay Scarbrough, 85, of Tibbie, passed away on June 2, 2025, peacefully at her home. She was surrounded by her family and friends when she drew her last breath and went to join her loved ones in heaven. Sylvia was born on January 3, 1940, to parents Clarence Pittman and Margarett Howard Baxter. Sylvia married Grady Cleveland Young on October 8th, 1960. Together they had two daughters, Cynthia Gay and Lisa. She really enjoyed cooking and family gatherings and doing yard work outside, right down to the last pinecone.

Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Gay Young Hayes and Lisa Young (Patrick) Aube', grandchildren; Daniel Grady (Kelly Swords) Hayes, Joseph David Hayes, Eric Chet (Denise Rhodes) Anderson, and Kelsey Elizabeth (Randall Griffin) Anderson. Great grandchildren; Daniel Clayton Hayes, Braxton David McCameron, Elijah Lee Hayes, Curtis Jerimiah Hayes, Gabriella Rae McCameron, Avilynn Chelsey Hayes, Keaton Chet McCameron, Joziah Joseph Hayes, Jacob (Amanda) Anderson, Candice (Kelsey) Axtell, Authur William Axtell, Joshua Blain Rhodes, Josiah Brayden Rhodes, Hayden Bryce Rhodes, Wyatt Anderson, Liliana Anderson, Joshua Anderson, Olivia Anderson, Jadeyn Anderson, Jaxson Anderson, Jillian Anderson, Her sister Shirley (Robert) Gullian, also extended family; Randy (Susan) Scarbrough, Ronnie (Lisa) Scarbrough, and Gail (Randy) Jones families. And is also survived by a host of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of her late husband Willard Scarbrough.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Orville Winford "Buddy" Baxter, and her late husband Grady Cleveland Young, and late husband Willard Scarbrough.

Pallbearers will be Grady Hayes, Joey Hayes, Eric Anderson, Clayton Hayes, Braxton McCameron, Elijah Hayes, Curtis Hayes and Mike Doggett.

Funeral Services will be at 12 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Fairhope Baptist Church with a visitation one hour prior to services. Bro. Jerry Taylor, Bro. Brian Jordan, and Bro. Phillip Howard officiating with Lathan Funeral Home directing. Internment to follow at Fairhope Baptist Church Cemetery.
