It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thelma Vicky Cooper, affectionately known as "Tadpole" or "Tad," who left this world peacefully on April 9, 2026, at the age of 71. Tad was born on July 23, 1954, and resided in Hobson, Alabama.
A distinguished professional, Tad began her career as a supervisor at Vanity Fair. She later pursued her passion for caring for others by earning her LPN degree, practicing as a nurse for several years. Throughout her career, she exemplified kindness and compassion, dedicating herself to helping others, particularly the elderly in her community.
Softball was a significant part of Tad's life. Growing up playing the sport with her siblings, she fostered a deep love for the game that she happily shared with her children and extended family. She was an avid fan of University of Alabama Softball, often cheering on her team with enthusiasm.
Tad's greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Tony Cooper; loving daughters, Nicole Ainsworth (Lee) and Tiffany Ford (Jason); grandchildren, Gaven Knapp, Cole Ainsworth, TJ Knapp, Conner Knapp, and Sutton Ford; great grandchildren, Kayden Knapp, Brynlee Knapp, Branson Knapp, and Baylor Knapp; siblings Perry Lankford (Trish), Phil Lankford (Debbie), Chris Lankford, Derek Lankford (Deanna), Katie Pledger, Cathy Harrell (Randy), and Polly Bozeman (Timmy); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Above all, she cherished her grandbabies and held her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in her heart.
Tad was greeted in heaven by her parents, Raymond and Gladys Lankford; son, Timothy "Lil' Tim" Knapp; and siblings, Ray Lankford, Jerry "Kokomo" Lankford, Mickey Lankford, Randy Lankford, Sue Keith, Leigh Lankford, Timmy Lankford, Mark Lankford, and Helen Tarver.
Tad's spirit of generosity and her ability to find joy in making others happy will be profoundly missed.
Funeral services celebrating Tad's life will be held Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Lathan Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral begins at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Glenn Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in Chatom Town Cemetery.
Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
