Timothy "Pop" Williams

March 28, 1956 - August 30, 2026

Timothy "Pop" Williams passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, at the age of 70, surrounded by those who loved him.

Tim was born on March 28, 1956, and spent most of his life working in construction. Over the years, he earned the nickname "The Terminator" because, as those who knew him best could tell you, he had a reputation for firing just about everybody at one time or another. He was hardworking, outspoken, and never afraid to do things his own way.

Above everything else, Tim loved his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy, and there was little he would not do for the people he loved.

Anyone who knew Tim knew about his love for racing. He was a devoted Dale Earnhardt fan and would race just about anything that had wheels. His black 1993 Chevrolet Silverado and black 1985 Chevrolet Monte Carlo were among his absolute pride and joy.

Tim enjoyed fishing and Alabama football, but he especially loved feeding and watching his deer. He also spent countless hours in his shop, which became a gathering place all its own. Friends, family, neighbors, and anyone passing through knew they could stop by, sit for a while, talk, laugh, and share a story. For many, some of their best memories with Timmy were made simply sitting around that shop.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Dean Williams and Ruby Clyde Williams, and his close relative, Vicki Patrick Lane.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Jo Williams; his children, Joel Williams, Jeremy (Summer) Williams, Jennifer (Dallas) Sullivan, and Matthew (Melissa) Parnell; his siblings, Diane (Larry) Pugh and Marty (Candy) Williams; many beloved grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his honorary children, Roxanne Lourcey and Dannon (Kristin) Lane.

Tim lived life on his own terms. He could be tough, stubborn, funny, and unforgettable, but beneath it all was a man who loved his family deeply and valued the people who became part of his life.

His absence will be felt in the quiet of the shop, in the roar of an engine, during an Alabama football game, when the deer come up to be fed, and in all the everyday moments that will forever bring his memory rushing back.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Legacy Hospice, as well as Dr. Donald and the staff of Chatom Primary Care, for the kindness, compassion, and exceptional care shown to Timmy and his family.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with a visitation starting at 10 a.m. Services will be officiated by Rev. Larry Sullivan. Burial will be at Williams Harris cemetery immediately following services.

Pallbearers will be Walt Phillips, Will Payne, Hunter Payne, Luke Payne, Dannon Lane, and Seth Reynolds.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tad Loper, Brandon Williams, Waylon Loper, Hunter Williams, Calder Sullivan, and Waine Loper.

He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and never forgotten.
