Wallace Pezent

Wallace Gene Pezent, 82, passed away on May 16, 2025, at Colquitt Regional Hospital in Moultrie, Gorgia. Wallace was born on November 10, 1942, to his parents Joseph and Mary Pezent.

Wallace retired after a 45-year career at Boise Cascade in Jackson, Alabama, where he established numerous lifelong friendships. He loved spending time with his family and friends, teaching them about fishing on the Tombigbee River, where they had a fish camp for many years. And he had plenty of fish stories to tell anyone who would listen. Wallace was of the Baptist faith and a member of Leroy Baptist Church.

When his sons were young, they all enjoyed refinishing furniture together. He even built many pieces of furniture for his family from one cherry tree that fell in their yard after Hurricane Ivan hit in 2004. Woodworking was in his blood. He came from a Croatian heritage. His grandfather immigrated to the United States from Yugoslavia in the early 1900s to build barrel staves. He was very proud of his heritage.

Wallace is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Seritha M. Pezent and his two sons: Lorin Pezent (Angela) of Adel, GA, and Michael Pezent (Tiffany) of Monroe, GA. Grandchildren; Cody, Joseph, and Caleb Pezent, all of Adel, GA, Brooke Smith (Jake) of Monroe, GA and Logan Pezent of Monroe, GA. His siblings; Bobbie Marks (Roy) of Jackson, AL, Marie Harrison (Leon) of Chilton, AL, and Johnny Pezent (Mary) of Jackson, AL, many nieces and nephews and 1 uncle, Charles Pezent (Katheryn) of Jackson, AL.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Leroy Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 until the service starts at 3:00 with Bro. Dave Delegal and Bro. Mike Brannon, officiating. Interment will follow in Rockville Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Lathan Funeral home.

Pallbearers are Cody Pezent, Joseph Pezent, Caleb Pezent, Logan Pezent, Jake Smith, Flynn Marks, Stan Marks, Sloan Marks, Corey Harrison, John Pezent, and Ivan Pezent.

Honorary pallbearers are Joe Palmer's Sunday School Class, Ira "Bubba" Rikard, and Joe Carpenter.
