Wilda Johnson

Wilda Gray Johnson, 87, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Jackson Medical Center. She was born in Jackson on February 8, 1933 to Lasander Frank Rice and Elsie Gray Hendrix Rice. A member of Rockville Baptist Church and a retired employee of Vanity Fair, she enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed long walks through the game sanctuary located near her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kennith Roy Johnson, Sr. and brothers, Frank Rice and Gaines Rice.

She is survived by her children, Deborah J. (Jerry) Taylor, Kennith Roy (Laurine) Johnson, Jr.; grandchildren, Chris (Holly) Johnson, Rachel (Robin) Wilson, Heather (Chris) York, Hunter Taylor; great-grandchildren, Sarah Johnson, Sadie Johnson, Seth Johnson, Sam Johnson, Gray Wilson, Beau Taylor, Eva York, Mallie York, Maddie York and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Rockville Baptist Church with the Revs. Mark Dunn and Jim Jackson officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Mark Allen, Charlie Driver, Victor Driver, Phillip Gilchrist, Dewayne Jackson and Chris York.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Allen, Pip Allen, Larry Powell, Fred Pringle, Terry Reed, Pat Rone Gene WHitehead, Jerry Whitehead, Phil Gilchrist, Stevie Gilchrist and Charles Hoven.
