William Smith

William Terry Smith, 79, of Grove Hill, passed away on June, 18, 2025, at home with his family by his side. Terry was born on February 21, 1946, to parents William Leon Smith and Doris Joiner Clements. Mr. Smith moved to Pine Hill, Alabama with his family when he was a teenager. He was a welder and worked throughout Alabama at many of the lumber mills and plants. After work in his younger years, you could catch him on the river fishing, he enjoyed watching sports, Alabama football, the Saints, but his favorite was baseball and cheering the Braves on.

Preceded in death by his parents, William Leon Smith and Doris Joiner Clements, and his sister Shelby Jean Gates.

Survived by his wife of 50 years, Reta Gates Smith, his children; Charles Martin 'Marty' (Julianne) Smith, James Kenneth 'Kenny' Smith, William Terry 'Lil Terry' (Charlotte) Smith Jr., Willie Douglas Smith, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. Also many extended family and loving friends.

A visitation for Terry's family and friends will be on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill from 4 pm to 5 pm. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
